AMARA SHRINE CEREMONIAL AND POTENTATE BALL APRIL 8th-9th, 2005
Installation of Officer for 2005 January 22nd, 2005 On January 22, 2005, Nobles and guests assembled for a black tie Installation Dinner at the Poinciana Country Club in Lake Worth, Florida. Noble Bro. Robert Polhamus was installed as the Club’s new President for 2005. Illustrious Jimmy McLaurin, Amara Shrine Temple’s newly made Potentate for 2005 conducted the actual “Fezzing Ceremony” that placed Noble Bro. Polhamus firmly at the helm of our Club. Most Worshipful Bro. William Sackett, Past Grand Master of New Jersey, was installed as Vice-President for the Club, with Nobles John Karroum and Richard Philpott DDGM, installed as Treasurer and Secretary. Installed as Governors for the Club were Nobles Paul Bennett, Wes Dickmann, James Fraser, Charles Mead PDDGM, Wayne Hansen, Norris Fussel and the current Worshipful Master of Boynton Lodge No. 236, David Curtis. The President and Vice-President are former Marine Pilots. Noble Bro. Sackett was attached to Marine Transport Squadrons based out of Chu Lai, Vietnam in 1965. Noble Bro. Polhamus flew Fighters for the Marine Corps in Vietnam and went on to fly 30 years as a Commercial Airline Captain for Northwest Airlines. Though unknown to one another at the time, they knew the same people and places, so the Boynton Beach Shrine Club is privileged to host these World Travelers as its leaders.
Installation of Officer for 2004 January 10th, 2004 On Saturday evening, 10 January, the 2004 Officers of the Boynton Shrine Club were installed in a black tie, festive gala held at the Addison Mizner-built Boynton Women’s Club. Illustrious Potentate Dan Coleman of Amara Temple in Palm Beach Gardens, was on hand with his Divan to perform the Installation ceremonies. The evening was capped off with an atmosphere of “Arabian Nights” decadence, complete with authentic Middle Eastern food and Bellydancers hired for the evening. Incoming Officers were President: Noble Bro. David Curtis; Vice-President and Treasurer: Noble Bro. John Karroum; 2nd Vice President: Noble Bro. Tom Mangold; Secretary: Noble Bro. Richard Philpott. Governors elected and installed were Noble Brothers Paul Bennett, Wes Dickmann, Charles Mead, Norris Fussel and Wayne Hansen. Eighty six Nobles and their Ladies enjoyed the tropical evening in an ambience of early 20th Century “Gilded Age” Spanish Moroccan Architecture and Syrian/Lebanese tastes, sights and sounds.
